Seek the counsel of trees.
They know how to tap the unseen pools
and read the wisdom of clouds.
~James Davis~

We all have a special corner of the world that transports us to a calm and serene place. For me it is a quaint bed and breakfast just outside of Asheville, NC called The Hawk and Ivy. The moment you pull up the drive you are instantly relaxed and at peace. Yes the surrounds and landscape are stunning, but I truly believe that the innkeepers, James and Eve, are the real reason for this overwhelming feeling. We have taken several trips to The Hawk and Ivy over the past few years and each time we learn more about this insightful pair. On a recent visit, after a lovely breakfast of orange vanilla waffles and fresh fruit, Eve shared James’ book of recently published poetry. Seek the counsel of trees is an insightful compilation of poems ranging from deeply spiritual and thought provoking to light and humorous. Many of the poems are also on display as you explore the gardens of the inn. In addition to the beautiful poetry, the cover art is by local potter Chiwa whose inspiring work is ever present at The Hawk and Ivy. Look here for more on seek the counsel of trees or to purchase it for yourself or a friend.
